Final steps of the James Strickland Story.

The final steps of James Strickland's epic 2500 mile journey of faith, to be reunited with his family.

Walking from Longview, Texas to Aberdeen, Washington, James' inspirational journey was completed when he was reunited with his children and their mother on October 6th 2009, at the Grays Harbor Seventh Day Adventist church, in Aberdeen, Washington.

While the children do crafts in the dining hall of the church, James Strickland, Joy Heard (the children's mother), and family members enjoyed a special guest speaker, Pastor Lyle Albrecht, in the sanctuary.

Upon the close of the service, James, Joy, and family walked the last few steps down the corridor to finally complete his journey, and to witness the long awaited family reunion.

This video shows the last few steps taken on a journey that has stretched over many months, 5 states, including Texas,
Colorado, Utah, Idaho, and Washington, and nearly 2500 miles.

Welcome Home James!

You can watch the video of the family reunion on Itsula I-Share Downloads section.

With almost 2500 miles of prayer, and testimony behind James' journey, he is on his last stretch to seeing his goal.

It's 1:55 pm on Tuesday, October 6th 2009, and James is now about 14 miles outside of Aberdeen, Washington, and is soon to be reunited with his children, and their mother.

Thanks goes to all the good souls that have kept James in their prayers, and have given him support, and encouragement to keep going.

James, God bless, and we will greet you when you arrive.

Glory be to God, and to those who show their faith openly, and are an encouragement to others, to follow in the Lords footsteps.

Wow, the endurance of men driven by God!

James has made it to eastern Washington, and is now near the Tri-Cities area.

I spoke with James last night, and someone had just stolen his backpack, while he was get.

Somewhat sullen, he remained full of the spirit, and didn't say one bad word about the person the had taken one of his very few possessions.

Today, he sounded happy, and full of life, as he was getting ready to be a guest speaker at a local mission in the Tri-Cities.

Also, a very nice article in the Aberdeen Daily World newspaper was published today.

Title: Cross Country salvation
Reporter: BY JACOB JONES - The Daily World

I would like to give a thank you to Mr. Jones, for doing a great job reporting this story.

That is what the people want to hear. Not the tabloid garbage as some reporters think they need to concoct, but the straight story, as it was given in the interview. So Mr. Jones, thank you for your excellent article, and please keep up the good work!

It seems he is receiving mixed feelings from communities there in Utah.

Lets just pray for safe travels on his way through Utah, and for the good Christians that have offered encouragment to James, along the way.

James Strickland - A Testimony of Faith

On a walk of faith, James Strickland has set out on a journey from Texas to Washington state, carrying a large wooden cross on his shoulders.

A quote from the Princeton Herald:
"The walk began as a simple act of obedience, Strickland told me. “I thought it was gonna be a personal journey,” he said. He was wrong.

As Strickland spoke, cars honked and some slowed, several people came up to ask him questions. Some people gave him money, others offered food. Meanwhile, he offered me his cell phone to call his mother.

Sandy Allen greeted me as if I had known her most my life. Like me, she said, “I didn’t think it was too good an idea.” Sandy said she had driven to Washington before, and it’s a long way in a car. And yet, Mrs. Allen supported her son’s decision.
Furthermore, she said, “God can make good things of everything."

God bless you Jimmy.

Keep it humble, keep it real, and keep on walking for the Lord.

James Strickland Story - In Response to KRDOTV.com Article

I have posted this comment on the krdotv.com website, and as promised have also placed it here, to make sure that the readers get an un-edited version of my comment.

MY COMMENT:

It seems the "media" has done it again.

What is the disgusting purpose behind exploiting something that is intended for good, and manipulating it into something that is an obvious "tabloid tactic" to take the eyes off the real purpose behind this man's journey.?

James has an incredible amount of courage, and trusts that people still have "good" within them.

There is an old saying "Those who live in glass houses, should not throw stones". But to keep it biblical, let me quote Jesus also "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone" John 8 verse 7.

It seems as though this reporter, and his media news caster friends, have chosen to take advantage of James' good heart, and honesty, and turn it into a joke, or at the very least, a cheap shot at making him look bad.

What a testimony in faith, just to consider making a journey like this in the first place, let alone to actually be doing it!

James indeed has the Lord in his heart, and his intentions of this journey home to Washington is obviously pure.

For the news media to take a voluntary interview, and the keyword is "VOLUNTARY", with James, and twist it, and edited it, into something they "think" is "news-worthy", but in my opinion, and in the opinion of many others I have talked to, that have read, and watched this "news", it is nothing more than an an attempt to cast shadows upon the works in faith, this man has begun.

Maybe the media should focus on highlighting some of the good people do, instead of focusing on "what sells", or at least what they think sells.

The story would have had a deeper impact for its readers, and more people might stay interested in it, had it been written around the strength, courage, honesty, religious commitment, and the fact that so many people support James, and his "Walk of Faith". Instead once again the media, has come up short, by trying to use simple minded gimmicks, and thoughtless, out of context quotes, to build an empty story, that really lacks the ability, and integrity to be "news-worthy".

I will not "stereo-type" all media groups though, as there have been several others that have actually listened to James' story, and wrote it, in context, and in its whole, and have displayed an honest effort to bring the real news to it's readers. A big thank you to all of those whom have written the "real news" and not just what they think people might be interested in.

God Bless you James, and keep up the good work.

This comment will also be on Itsula.com in the North America forum, just to make sure it is not "edited, and twisted into something else.

Clint
